Founded in 1949 by Willie Anthony Marque and Beatrice Marque, the original company, Marque’s Poultry, began in the Marque’s home as a corner grocery store stocked with fresh chicken. Unbeknownst to the Marque family, they were laying the foundation for their full time entry into the foodservice business.  

When son, Willie Alphonse, joined the business in 1974, he decided the long-term future of the company lay in product distribution. Willie Alphonse began with one truck, fifteen customers, and a limited product line consisting of fresh chicken, fresh eggs, and smoked sausage. By 1996, he capitalized on growth opportunities by broadening Marque's product selection by 200 items.  

Third generation Steven Marque joined the business full time in 1996. One year later, they relocated to a new distribution facility allowing them to continuously expand their inventory. Company growth was rapid allowing the Marque’s to obtain another new facility in 2003. Since then, they have increased the facility’s square footage and have added a refrigerated dock. Along with these advancements, they also invested in state of the art trucks with GPS features and temperature monitors to provide optimal delivery services.

In the midst of expanding the distribution center, Willie and Steven Marque also established Blend Mark, a blending and packaging company. The father-son duo was not stopping there. The following year, in 2006, they opened a wholesale market coining the name Marque’s Market. From the market’s origin to now, it strives to provide an inventory meant to satisfy the needs of everyday walk-in customers and restaurant owners. 

Today, Marque's Food Distributors, the Marque family’s original company, answers the distribution needs of thousands of customers throughout the metropolitan New Orleans Area and chain stores across the Gulf Coast. Additionally, Marque’s Food Wholesale Market strives to provide locals and businesses a convenient place to shop with no membership requirement. Everyday the Marques and their employees endeavor to yield the optimal experience possible for their valued customers.
